Celtic defeated Aberdeen by three goals to one on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Liel Abada, Kyogo and Matt O’Riley. Picking up all three points was nothing but positive although injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate weren’t.

After the match, Brendan Rodgers spoke to Sky Sports and gave an update on the pair’s condition. He firstly spoke about Carter-Vickers: “[On CCV] Hopefully okay. He felt his hamstring a little bit.”

The decision to bring the American off at the break for Stephen Welsh was certainly a precautionary one. In reflection, it was the correct thing to do.

As well as the imposing central defender, Japanese midfielder Reo Hatate was withdrawn because of injury. He came on at half time for David Turnbull but was brought off with 20 to go. On his condition, Rodgers said: “Reo came in I felt it was a tactical one. He felt a little issue in his calf we’ll see how it is in the next couple of days.”

Hopefully for Celtic, both Hatate and Carter-Vickers turn out to be okay. Both are extremely important players for the champions and they do have a week to recover before they are needed again.
