Sky Sports and BT Sport have been reportedly told by the Premier League they are not allowed to ask clubs or specific players about anything surrounding the covid-19 pandemic and it’s impact on football in the coming weeks and months.

Both broadcasters are allowed access to players and have been making moves to try and bring original content to the table by interviewing players and managers in lockdown.

However, there’s a nervousness around clubs that questions surrounding how the season should end, will end and the fate of clubs at both ends of the table could be discussed.

MailSport has posted a leaked SkySports document which claims that any access to Premier League players will be revoked if any of this is brought up.

A leaked email which was circulated around Sky Sports reads:

“It’s clear that the Premier League will revoke access if we do not stick to these guidelines,” an email sent to Sky Sports staff about the guidelines read.

“The interviews have been agreed on the grounds that they are part of the football contract; access is intended to be fun and relaxed.”

“Clubs are extremely nervous about putting anyone up (for interview) at the moment so we must stick to the following processes.

“We should avoid “news” interviews as much as possible.”

With Sky Sports and BT having access to the Scottish game — it’s conceivable moves likes this could happen up here too.

Although, there’s not been much restraint in players and managers giving their opinion on the outcome of our leave in the media and in statements — I include Celtic in that.

BT have been hosting a weekly Friday Scottish football show it has been confined to their pundits up until now.

  1. I listened to Jim White prattling on all afternoon last week on Sky Sports News.
He kept on about the government telling the EPL players that they should be taking a 30%
    pay cut.
The question “Our Jim!” should’ve been asking was were the government prepared to waiver the tax to help all the lower league teams.
Team Murdoch would never ask the tories these questions.
MP’s to take pay cuts? No just up their expenses by £10,000 for equipment to help them work from home.
