LEIGH GRIFFITHS has spoken about his Celtic career and the next goal he has in mind when football eventually returns.

The Celtic striker has battled back from adversity over the past 18-months — just before the shutdown he was getting back to his best.

Now, sitting at home like the rest of us — Leigh vows to get back onto the pitch and among the goals to reach another special feat.

He’s already hit 100 goals for Celtic but now he wants to enter Celtic’s top 20 goals goal scorers of all time.

The striker pledges to reach that milestone which is only 20 goals away.

“I’ve hopefully managed to shut them all up. And at 29 I’ll still be going for more records.” Leigh told SunSport.

“If you think about the great goalscorers who have been here over the years, that would probably be the biggest achievement of my career.

“I don’t think anybody’s going to beat Jimmy McGrory’s record. That’s just ridiculous.

“I still remember the day I signed for Celtic when people said I could only do it at certain levels.

“But I’ve managed to score at every level I’ve played with Celtic, so I’ve shut a lot of people up.

“I’ve still got a bit to prove and make sure I’m back to my best.

“It’s nice to be remembered when people put the stats out there — that I got to 50 quicker than Henrik.

“Ultimately, I’m never going to be Celtic’s Henrik Larsson. But you just try to make your own name.”

Leigh has certainly made his mark. The striker’s ability is outstanding — and as he said — he’s shut up a lot of people over the years who never thought he’d make it at Celtic.

If we can get back onto the field this year, we’ll have an even hungrier Leigh Griffiths on our hands.
