BT SPORTS have contacted UEFA over Thursday night’s Ibrox ban for two of their nominated pundits.

Two former Celtic players Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon were set to be pundits for the broadcaster during the Celtic game. As is common practice with BT, they set up a studio in whatever Glasgow club is at home in Europe but cover both games for their viewers.

This is why Chris and Neil were heading to the stadium on Thursday evening and were booked in to do their job.

It became clear on Thursday afternoon they would not be permitted entry to the ground due to ‘security reasons’. Chris Sutton took to social media to comment on the lunacy of a pundit not being able to do their job in case fans get upset by their presence.

According to Stephen McGowan in today’s print edition of the Scottish Daily Mail [P91] the broadcaster have taken this snub to UEFA and are unhappy at the ridiculous call from the Glasgow side.

They had to switch to a London studio last minute to cover the Celtic game as a result and both Chris and Neil were put on the sidelines. It’s not a good look unless you’re pandering to the most unhinged.

  1. If this was one of our games at home and the broadcaster was sending two ex Rangers players to do the pre and after match summaries I don’t think Celtic supporters would be too chuffed

    • I don’t think they’d be in any danger though, would you? Other than their feewings being hurt by the pelters they’d be getting but it’s highly unlikely any Tim would physically attack them. Can’t say that about the huns, the have previous for this sort of thing.
This is an outright admission that Sevco know exactly what their fans are and would rather appease them than tackle their vile behaviours.

Most despicable club in the world. In either lifetime.

    • Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest.
Recognise they are there to do a job as would any normal fair-minded fan.
Id be embarrassed though if Celtic FC thought their own fans were so unhinged and out of control that the safety of ex Rangers players couldn’t be guaranteed.

    • Get a life buddy, it should not matter after all they are football pundits and should be allowed to do their job without prejudice.

    • That’s how it works mate ex ranger players broadcast from Celtic park all the time, it is dependent on the game times. The difference being your scum fans cannot be trusted

  2. CD, I think you need to watch BT’s coverage to understand why this is outrageous. ‘Our’ club is a club for all and if Celtic fans are not happy that players from either of the Rangers clubs are there then then that’s on us. Being not happy and being excluded altogether are two very different things

  3. They were terrified incase their “fans” started singing songs about “fenian bastards” ….. that would have been their songbook for 90 minutes.

  4. Rangers seem to be disputing every decision that does not please ie SFA, Celtic, BBC, Police, Scottish Goverment, Cinch, Media,Stock Market, are they at war with the world or are they unhinged or are they afraid to offend their bigoted support,I think the moderate supporters among them need to take a look at the way they are being run.

  5. Simple Really
Each and Every Premier Club should Boycott FC Embarrassment. To think This New Club was given a Fresh Start a Clean Slate and Voted back in to Scottish Football. And there Fans just keep Pining for the Dead Club

  6. This new club is an embarrassment, they think they can run Scottish football like their old club did . If Celtic where to ban everyone affiliated to the new club , who would we get to referee the matches ? There’s one to sort out …

  7. The huns, are proud of the fact that ex Celts would be in danger if they appeared at ibrox for BT!If anyone is surprised by this then they don’t know the Scottish game!they are SCUM!
