Callum McGregor showed a touch of class this week by getting in touch with his former academy player Mark Fotheringham.

The 38-year-old landed a massive assistant job with Felix McGath at Hertha Berlin after originally turning down the opportunity to become Neil Lennon’s assistant in Cyprus.

Cal Mac took the time to call the former Celtic man and congratulate Mark on landing a top job.

“I appreciated the call, and I’m so proud of Callum’s career,” he told the Sun.

“He is a wonderful player who could easily star in the Bundesliga.”

At the beginning of the season there were so many doubts over Cal as our captain. Not from everyone, but from a lot of fans.

Scott Brown was mouthy and combative on the park and that something Callum has never been. However, his leadership skills have been there for all to see this term.

From getting the players into an impromptu team talk after an important win to chasing down Borna Barasic and giving him a few choice words – it’s been great to see Cal evolve in front of our very eyes.

It’s great to hear he reached out to Mark.

  1. His captaincy skills are non-existent.

Congratulating an old mate on getting a good job is hardly earth-shattering stuff.

Where was he when we flopped in Europe yet again?

    Anonymous again.

Likes to come out in the media with repetitive, meaningless rubbish about learning lessons & using it as motivation etc etc
