Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has talked up his relationship with defensive partner Cameron Carter Vickers as he gave his thoughts on the potentially permanent signing of the Tottenham loanee.

With both players arriving during the summer transfer window, the duo has played a crucial part for the Hoops alongside one another at the back, in keeping the best defensive record in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, ahead of this weekends Scottish Cup clash, Starfelt admitted that he would like to see his defensive partner remain with the club after building up a good partnership in the last few months.

“He’s a very good player, an easy player to play with,” he said, as quoted by Football Scotland.

“I think we’re getting better and better all the time. We have a very good connection on the pitch, and also outside of the pitch, we have good communication. So I think we’re doing good right now.

“Yeah [I’d like to see Carter-Vickers sign permanently], of course, I like to play with him; I think he’s done very good at the club.

“The rest is not really up to me! So we will wait and see.”

Having come in for some stick in recent weeks and at the beginning of the season, Starfelt has really proved the doubters wrong so far this campaign, and you would imagine a big part of that is his relationship with CCV in defence.

Returning to action last Monday night, it was an impressive performance from both players, doing well to keep Hibs out and secure another clean sheet.

Like Starfelt, I am sure many fans would be keen to see Carter Vickers signed up on a permanent deal after his showings in the backline under Postecoglou.

  1. Thankfully Carl will be getting an overdue rest once Jullien gets back.

To think that Celtic signed 3 Japanese stars for a price that was lower than one Carl Starfelt. . .. … the mind boggles.. . . .
