CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS started the USA’s final group stage match in the World Cup with a win needed to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
The American was very impressive throughout the match and kept a clean sheet along with his defensive teammates.
The Celtic defender saw a lot of the ball, completing many passes. He looked as composed as usual, taking the game’s significance in his stride. He was one of the country’s top performers on the night.
He was defensively strong, with the Iranian forwards struggling to get by the player. CCV floored one of the attackers on one occasion, shrugging them off the ball.
It’s been great to see some Celtic representation on the World’s stage, but performances that were on display, like tonight, will attract the attention of other clubs.
It’ll be interesting to see what the USA manager decides going forward. The backline will need to stand strong in the next round, but will Carter-Vickers be a part of that?
