There has been a lot of chat on social media over the past 48 hours surrounding the state of play of Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and how close he is to an automatic suspension.

If a player picks up SIX yellow cards within the season, they’re handed an automatic suspension for indiscipline.

The story that’s been doing the rounds is CCV is one yellow card from an automatic suspension and if the American picks one up against Hibs he will be suspended for the Glasgow Derby at Ibrox. CeltsAreHere can categorically reveal that is FALSE!

At first we weren’t going to address this on the site, but the number of queries we’ve received and the comments on our own social platforms, we felt the need to set the record straight.

CCV only has four yellow cards to his name this season picked up against The Rangers, St Johnstone during two separate games and Livingston.

The World Cup defender is NOT in line for a suspension many have spoken about.

Furthermore, even if Cameron was one yellow card away from an automatic suspension, rules state that suspension wouldn’t kick in until TWO weeks after the six yellow card had been picked up.

There is no scenario where CCV picks up a yellow against Hibernian and misses the game at Ibrox. The only way he wouldn’t play is through injury or a straight red at Easter Road.
