Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on the condition of Cameron Carter-Vickers. The American came off injured in his side’s 3-0 Boxing Day win over Dundee.

Carter-Vickers didn’t seem too pleased when he was coming off. Indeed, he appeared to be rather deflated.

Post-match, Rodgers gave an update: “Thankfully it looks like it hasn’t gone, his hamstring”, he said (Sky Sports). “He just felt a little bit tight. We’ve said to him before if he feels anything, it’s better letting us know. We’ll assess him, the medical team will assess him and we’ll see where we’re at in the next few days.”

The anxiety levels of Celtic supporters would have risen to an almighty high when Carter-Vickers came off. Things don’t seem as bad as initially feared, though.

It is positive that he hasn’t pulled his hamstring, but there are slight concerns nonetheless. We will undoubtedly hear more in the coming days about his potential availability for the Glasgow derby.

All involved with the club will be hoping the 25-year-old can make the game because he is crucial to the defence. If he doesn’t, Stephen Welsh is likely to make the grade because players such as Gustaf Lagerbielke, Maik Nawrocki, and Nat Phillips weren’t in the squad today.
