Adam Idah has been labelled a significant transfer bargain by Celtic icon Peter Grant.
CeltsAreHere revealed last month that Norwich would be looking for a fee of over £6 million for the striker if Celtic are looking to make his deal permanent in the summer.
Speaking on Go Radio, Grant highlighted Idah’s technical prowess, boldly stating that the Irish forward surpasses former Celtic star Moussa Dembele in technical ability.
Despite some initial scepticism surrounding Idah’s signing in late January, which some fans deemed a panic move, the 23-year-old has since proved his worth. Scoring seven goals in 14 appearances, Idah has shown he can deliver on Celtic’s investment.
Grant, reflecting on the current transfer market, pointed out the cost-effectiveness of Idah’s potential signing.
“For £5m? I think so because it is very difficult to get any striker for that type of money,” he said, quoted by Football Scotland.
“I know he’s not a number nine, but Sammie Smzodics has been scoring a lot of goals, and now you are talking about £15-20m for him at Blackburn who are sitting near the bottom of the league.
“We know what Idah can do and what he offers. He is hungry to score goals and is young. I think if he keeps taking the chances he can get better and more clinical, and you could end up getting big money again. Look what happened with Moussa Dembele. And I think he (Idah) is technically better than Moussa. They are different types of players but technique wise I think he brings that to his game as well.”
As Celtic weigh their options for the upcoming transfer window, the debate continues on whether Adam Idah could indeed be the bargain that catapults Celtic’s attacking options to the next level.
