Since the arrival and almost immediate impact of Adam Idah at Celtic, centre-forward Hyeon-gyu Oh seems to have been pushed into the abyss.

He has played just 10 minutes for the Hoops since returning from the Asian Cup in February and has become somewhat of a forgotten figure.

On Friday morning, though, Celtic wished the striker a Happy Birthday as he turned 23:

Although his goals-per-minute ratio in green and white is respectable (he bags every 122 minutes in the league this campaign), manager Brendan Rodgers must not have seen enough in Oh to sanction the loan arrival of Adam Idah.

The Irishman has made a near-on instant impact since joining the club and proved that he is a much more viable option up top than the South Korean frontman who hasn’t even been on the bench in the last two games despite being fit.

Oh has a wealth of development to undergo and one wonders whether Celtic is the correct place for him to be at the minute.

The treble-winner does not get sufficient game time and come the summer if Idah’s loan is made permanent, the future is not looking bright for young Oh.
