Let us prefix this by saying there have been absolutely no developments that lead us to believe Victor Wanyama is set for a Celtic return but the media are continuing to push the idea this morning with the transfer deadline approaches.

According to SunSport, Celtic could land Victor Wanyama this transfer window

The tabloid writes: “A SHOCK deadline day transfer taking £8m-rated Victor Wanyama from Tottenham to Celtic could still happen today, according to reports.”

This could be merely the tabloids last attempt to squeeze some juice out of the transfer window. There are no quotes, or even a journalist willing to claim Celtic have been in touch.

We would love to see Wanyama at Celtic but at this moment it’s all conjecture. The Spurs hierarchy may have lowered their price but it’s still well above what Celtic could do.

Celtic have signed two players this window and some fans believe they need at least one more in.

Mikey Johnston’s injury presents a big problem for Neil Lennon. Also, Celtic cannot rely on certain defenders to keep fit and would be prudent to look at centre-back options before the day is out.

The Scottish deadline closes at 12pm while the English window closes at 11pm – the same time the UK officially leave Europe this evening.
