LIAM BURT was announced as a Celtic player yesterday evening just as he was ready to take to the field for the club with the Celtic colt team playing Queens Park in the Challenge Cup.

The player was picked up by Celtic after he was released from Ibrox at the end of last season. Burt trained with the club over the summer and was part of a bounce game last month.

He impressed enough to earn a two-year deal with the Scottish Champions and has crossed the Glasgow divide.

Celtic have been bolstering their developmental ranks all summer and have been readying the next crop of players for their potential first team tilt in the next few years.

Burt will now have the best chance to succeed in the environment at Celtic. Top class facilities with top class youth coaches.

It may take a few months or so to get him up to speed given the environment he was once in.
