The stakes couldn’t be higher with the league title hanging in the balance.

Celtic, under Brendan Rodgers, have historically performed well in these clashes, boasting a robust record against their city rivals.

Paulo Bernardo, reflecting the confidence within the squad, highlighted the team’s readiness. With key players returning from injury, Celtic’s squad depth looks robust, providing Rodgers with various tactical options.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “That’s good but every game is just one game.

“The past is the past. We have to build again for the future.

“We expect to face a great opponent. Rangers are our rivals so they have to be good too to play against us. So let’s see. The team are confident. Some players have come back from injury too so that’s good for the group.

“There is a lot of competition for places and that helps the team. Everyone will give the best of themselves to play good football.”

Bernardo made headlines in the last derby, scoring a screamer to open the scoring at Parkhead.

Whether he starts today or not is something we’ll find out at 10.45, but he’ll have a role to play in the game, even if it’s coming off the bench in the second half. We’ve seen Rodgers trust the player in the big games, starting in the Champions League while struggling to get into the first eleven in the league.
