CELTIC haven’t yet put out today’s press conference in full like they usually do.
After the club holds a press conference, it either pops up on Youtube or CelticTV but as we sit here at 9pm on Monday evening, it’s nowhere to be seen.
Neil Lennon went on a rant today, making some great points but also digging a hole for himself.
It was quite the fightback from a man who has obviously been reading the papers over the last few weeks with no platform to respond until now.
The Celtic manager made it clear today, Celtic were NOT out there for a lark and worked hard during the training camp. He had a go at Andy Walker and Sky Sports and demanded an apology from the former Celtic player.
What’s concerning is Celtic aren’t putting out the footage because the clips which are doing the rounds are soundbites cut out to make the manager look more aggressive and confrontational than he perhaps was through the whole session.
We have contacted Celtic on a number of occasions to allow us access to press conferences. We have a massive readership with millions of hits per month, all Celtic fans, all looking for the latest news from the club. Celtic continually ignore us, and by that we mean, they don’t even bother replying or returning phone calls. Instead, we get our press conference soundbites from either Youtube, or The Cynic, the only fan-based media who have been allowed to attend conferences. We were made aware today, The Cynic were not invited to the latest conference while the usual suspects took their place.
The same media outlets who are now describing the Celtic manager as crazed. They are controlling the narrative right now. We want to sit down, listen to what’s been said, but more importantly, what has been asked.
I think Neil Lennon, for all his faults, is being misrepresented to a certain extent at the moment.
The pressure on the manager is immense, and for good reason, but the club are compounding that pressure. They haven’t even tweeted quotes from our manager.
