NEIL LENNON sat down with CelticTV on Monday evening to let the Celtic fans know his thinking going into the Rennes game on Thursday.

There’s a perception Celtic could field a weaker side because the club are already guaranteed a place in the knockout phase of the competition.

However, this isn’t coming into Lenny’s thinking with the manager wanting the bhoys to get the win so they can preserve their 100% home record in the competition.

Not only that but try to also make sure they get top spot in the group to avoid some of the harder sides in the next round.

“Not really, no” Lennon replied to Gerry McClulloch on CelticTV.

“I want to win the game, because that will give us a 100% home record in the group which would be fantastic

“It’s important for the supporters as well

“Obviously the incentive, if you can win the group you can get an advantageous draw in the second half of the season

“We’re on ten points already, which is a magnificent return – there’s no reason why we can’t improve oN that”

Another added incentive for Celtic is the club have never finished top of a group in its current format either in the Champions League or Europa. So if they manage it, they’ll create a little bit more history at Celtic Park.

It’s not going to easy, Rennes are out but they’re hurting and their pride will be on the line on Thursday night. It’s not time to get complacent and we must go out with the same intensity as we have in previous Euro games to make sure we get three points.
