Journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that Celtic could enter the race for Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.

According to Nixon, League One side Ipswich Town has been chasing the goalkeeper who enters the final year of his contract this summer for several weeks now, but United are thought to be holding off for a ‘bidding war’.

With that, it has been suggested that the Hoops could join the race for the Swiss keeper.

Siegrist is a player who impressed in the United side this season, which finished 9th on their first campaign back in the top flight of Scottish Football.

Despite Celtic’s problems between the sticks last season, with Vasilas Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard all playing in goals at one stage or another, Siegrist isn’t the answer to fix that.

Whilst he is strong in certain areas of his game, overall, the 29-year old isn’t the level of player a club like Celtic should be aiming to get, in my opinion.
