Celtic have been proactive in the transfer market in the past week. Three signings in quick succession has given Celtic fans a major boost. Watching the club freshen up a squad which was tired looking is great to see.

There has been no specific number mentioned when it comes to new recruits but it’s easy to venture a guess as to how many more players could be coming through the door before the end of the summer window.

Celtic still need centre back cover and a first team right back so that’s at least two, Neil Lennon wants another striker so he has four at his disposal and after the Turnbull deal didn’t work out, it’s likely the club will be in for a midfielder.

So at least four more players coming in with at least one or two notable players likely going in the other direction.

With the Turnbull deal on ice, Celtic could be looking to bring in a World Cup under 20 star Jose Cifuentes after the Ecuadorian youngster admitted he’s heading to Europe and it could be to either Man City or Celtic.

SunSport has reported on the player’s comments:

“My aim is to play in Europe. I don’t know which club I will sign for yet – either Manchester City or Celtic. Nothing has been decided yet.”

“I deserve my opportunity to play in Europe, it’s where I have to be. And my mentality is that I am going to be in Europe for a long time. I have spent a lot of time studying and they taught me many things, including English which I now understand better.

“To become a great footballer, I must learn languages and not just English. The studying has helped me on and off the pitch because I now believe I make decisions faster.

“Even when I do go to Europe, I want to continue studying. I want to have another profession besides football. Since I was little I thought about going into business.

“The World Cup in Poland was a dream for me and the team. No one imagined Ecuador would reach the semi-finals and it was a great success.

“To wear the shirt of my country was a beautiful experience and it was great to play against the best players in the world of my age group. My next ambition is to be part of the team that plays in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. I will work very hard for it.”

With it easier to get a work permit in Scotland, it could all boil down to paperwork. I don’t think there will be many fans out there who know much about this lad. He is a defensive midfielder who currently plays for CD América.

  1. I would think for that price he is a good buy for Jose Cifuentes Ecuadorian youngster, look at the price South American footballers go for, they are looking for £20 million AM who is one season top goalscorer in Scotland never won any thing in Scotland he has never scored in a cup final in Scotland and never been in one in Scotland and has never played in any CL games in Scotland and capped twice,he cost £1 million or so and they want £20 million for being one season top goalscorer in scotland great return if you can get it,so if Jose Cifuentes comes here then we could be looking at £50 million for doing the same great buy he is sign him up…
