Celtic defender, Liam Scales, has been making steady progress in the Scottish Premiership. Currently on loan at Aberdeen, the Irishman has had a rollercoaster season with the Dons but has been pivotal since manager Barry Robson took over.

His performances have been so impressive that he’s been a key player in Aberdeen’s push for a third-place finish in the cinch Premiership.

Scales is due back at Celtic this summer, and his future with the club is a hot topic. The defender has been open about his situation, stating a sit-down chat will happen upon his return, “I will report back to Celtic in the summer for pre-season, that is what I am assuming will happen. I will need to go back there and discuss what plans they have for me.” he told RecordSport.

Despite the uncertainty, Scales is not letting it affect his downtime. He’s looking forward to a break in the summer, and he’s not planning on spending it worrying about his future. “I am looking forward to taking a break in the summer and I don’t think I’ll be worrying too much about what the future holds when I’m off. I have really enjoyed it up here, I love playing here – it has been brilliant for me.”

However, the future is not entirely in his hands. Scales acknowledges that the decision is not solely his to make. “But I can’t decide now what’s going to happen because I don’t know what’s going on between the clubs. I don’t know what Celtic have planned for me so there’s no point jumping ahead.”

Scales’ future at Celtic is still up in the air, and we have no idea how Ange Postecoglou views him at the moment. His performances at Aberdeen have shown that he’s a player with potential, but can he help level up Celtic? Hoops fans will no doubt be eagerly awaiting his return, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the defender.
