MORITZ JENZ has confirmed that Celtic and his reps will sit down over the next few months and potentially thrash out a deal that would see the German make his move to Celtic permanent.

Jenz has made 19 Celtic appearances so far this season but has found himself on the bench since Carl Starfelt returned from a long-term injury.

Jenz is clearly seen as a backup by Ange Postecoglou, which could skew negotiations. Moritz will want to know if there’s a chance of more game time if he stays beyond his loan deal, and Celtic may not go above and beyond to keep Jenz if he’s seen more as a squad player.

Speaking to the German publication RBB24, Jenz said: “My agent and the club representatives will discuss this. I’m relatively happy at Celtic and it’s really fun here.

“Every day is a dream. I hope it can continue like this in the long term.

“Let’s see what happens. I just keep going full throttle for Celtic.

“I’ve felt really comfortable here since day one.

“I lived in England for eight years; it’s similar there. I like the people, they’re just really nice.

“I also like the weather, although it rains a lot and is cold. Glasgow really is an awesome city with lots of options.

“We have 60,000 who always come to the home games.

“You’ll feel proud wearing these iconic green and white hoops. It’s always a boost when you play.

“We are never afraid, whether it’s against Real Madrid in the Champions League or against other huge teams, you feel just as big as them. I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

Moritz has been dependable and has hardly put a foot wrong in his 19 appearances. Keeping him around under the right circumstances would be a no-brainer. It really would depend on what FC Lorient value the player at.

The bhoys also just signed another defender in Yuki Kobayashi, which further throws doubt over a deal.
