Celtic defender Carl Starfelt has insisted that Ange Postecoglou’s side have come a long way in the last few months and are ready for the challenge they are set to face against Glasgow rivals Rangers on Wednesday.

The Swedish central defender has experienced the derby first-hand earlier in the campaign, as the Hoops fell to a 1-0 defeat in a disappointing afternoon.

However, it is more than fair to say that this Celtic side has grown massively since the early months of the season and now look prepared & full of confidence going into this one at Celtic Park.

As quoted by the Herald, Starfelt sent out an important message ahead of Wednesday’s massive fixture, insisting that the squad are more than ready to go whilst also remaining cautious, that one game ultimately won’t decide the season.

“We’re a better team now from the last Rangers game. We’ve come a long way in our football. I hope we can show that on Wednesday night. We feel good; we are in a good run of games. We have won a lot of games, and I feel the confidence is very high in the dressing room.

“I think we are ready for it. It is going to be a good game, and we are going to approach it like every other game, and we are going to do our best to win it. It’s still early – we don’t want to look too much at the table. Of course, we really want to win the game on Wednesday, but we need to be focused on every game.

“We can’t think about other teams or what might happen in the future. We need to be focused and play every game as it comes, winning as many as possible. That’s our mindset, not to get carried away. We’re focused on playing our own football, and at the end of the season, that’s when it matters where you are in the table.”

It is great to hear these sorts of comments from the 26-year old, and it is clear that everyone within the club is on the same page and going in the right direction as we prepare for a huge second half of the season.

Despite having several first-team players missing for this coming week, there is still that feeling of confidence and belief coming from the side that has continued to grow and develop.

Crucially, they also aren’t getting too ahead of themselves with a long way to go in this title race, even after the end result of Wednesday nights game.
