On a day that brought some positive news for Celtic, with Reo Hatate making it through his Japan debut uninjured, Stephen Welsh suffered an injury to his groin while playing for Scotland Under-21s.

The young side was held to a 2-2 draw by Kazakhstan, with the captain departing the field of play just after the fifty-minute mark.

Although not a starter with Starfelt and Carter-Vickers having such a great partnership, he still holds an important place in the squad. He looks to be the backup option, with Julien failing to appear in the matchday squad in recent weeks.

All eyes will be on Sweden as they play Poland in their World Cup Qualifier later on Tuesday. Hopefully, Starfelt can get through the match unscathed.

Although, it is unlikely that the central defender will start the match, remaining an unused sub in the side’s 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic.

Postecoglou will be keen to have these last remaining internationals out the way so he can begin preparations for Sunday’s derby. He will hope that no more players join Welsh on the physio’s bench.
