CHRIS SUTTON has captured the mood well after another derby defeat by Celtic. This wasn’t a derby defeat like last season or a feeling of hopelessness washing over the Celtic support. [Record Sport]

It was a game of fine margins where Celtic dictated a lot of the game and had they taken their chances when they came along – on another day – there would be a different outcome.

A derby defeat is not to be taken lightly but Chris is adamant this side looks miles ahead of where they were the last time they went to Ibrox and lost 4-1. The Hoops have to take their medicine for now but the improvement is there and there looks like there’s a plan in place to keep improving.

Celtic fans were accused of being entitled last season when they called for Neil Lennon’s head. However, the fans will back a manager if they know the team is going places. Under Neil Lennon, it was clear the Irishman had run his race and had nothing more to give.

Ange Postecoglou on the other hand has galvanised the side to the point we qualified for the Europa League against the odds. The comments and the general feeling after the game is sharp pain because derby defeats will always give you that punch to the gut, but there’s still resounding positivity.

We’re still not where we need to be, but we’re getting closer. The Ibrox club are a well-drilled side and they took their big chance when it came – that was the difference and we must learn from that.

Setbacks were inevitable this season, of course, they were. Given the scale of the rebuild, in just three months we have seen a lot of progression. We now have an opportunity to strengthen the side further ahead of the deadline and really kick on after the international break.

It’s all about keeping the pressure on and bouncing back now. Ange will have time to draw breath after the deadline and assess what to do going forward.

  1. Utter nonsense. Of course Celtic fans will back any manager after 4 games in the league but if a gap opens up watch those same “backers” turn once again into entitled, bleating morons.
