Celtic have been fined £7,000 after their latest charge that was received after the Europa League tie against Lille, in which Neil Lennon’s side managed to pick up a point from, drawing 2-2.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Scottish Champions have been charged for “improper conduct of the team” under article 15 (4) of the governing bodies European football rules.

This comes after five players, which include Scott Bain, Diego Laxalt, Moi Elyounoussi, Olivier Ntcham and Albian Ajeti, of Neil Lennon’s side, were shown a yellow card against the French side.

In the game, Celtic took a two-goal lead in the first-half after a brilliant double by Norweigan winger, Mohamed Elyounoussi. However, the hoops couldn’t hold on to that lead and ultimately could only take home a point from the game.

In the last few years, a lot of the fines have come from off the part due to fan conduct, but the board have new excuses this time, with an empty stadium and the only the players ‘conduct’ to blame.

Despite that, I wouldn’t say there was much wrong with the way Celtic went about things in the game and there was no aggression or malice involved in any sequences of play, so this fine does come as a bit of a surprise.
