CELTIC are interested in Hamilton defender Jamie Hamilton with his contract expiring at the end of the season. At just 19-years-old, he has played over sixty times for the side he came through the ranks of, over thirty of these came in the top flight. [TeamTALK]

However, Celtic are not the only club interested in the player’s signature with multiple clubs from Scotland, including Hibs and Aberdeen and many English clubs joining the list, Premier League giants Liverpool are circling the player as are Newcastle. The Merseyside club is said to have the strongest interest of those keeping tabs on the player.

With Celtic’s Stephen Welsh linked with an Italian move, Hamilton may be seen as a replacement. At a young age, there is still lots of time for the defender to develop as a player.

In the Championship this season the defender has two goals to his name in the sixteen times he has played, with a further goal in the league cup.

Capped in the Scotland Under-19 squad, Hamilton would come in at a low cost, with only wages to pay, but could have a high reward especially if he keeps developing.
