According to reports in the past week, Celtic have been keeping tabs on Bournemouth outcast Jordon Ibe as he gets ready to make his exit from the English club this summer.

It was August last year when SunSport claimed the bhoys were ‘closing in’ on a loan move for Jordon – but that didn’t come to pass.

Football Insider now claim the player is opened to a move to Celtic and would take a wage cut from his current £40kpw to join the Hoops.

Jordon has only made two appearances in the league for Bournemouth this season and given his hefty wages, won’t be getting kept on.

The English side spent an eye watering £16.2m (Transfermarkt) back in 2016 for Ibe and are now letting him go on a free.

Verdict

Celtic could be a perfect place for the winger to come and rehabilitate his career. It all depends on Neil Lennon’s thinking. Right now, Celtic have plenty of wingers but that might change this summer. To land a player who has come through the ranks at Liverpool and cost £16m only a few years ago would be somewhat of a bargain.

Ibe would have to come in with the correct attitude and ready to roll up his sleeves.

When the season finally finishes there’ll be likely one or two clubs down south in the Championship or the lower half of the Premier League who could take a punt on Jordon.
