Celtic has been linked to Ben Davies again after a move for the defender fell through in the January window of 2021. Celtic believed they’d secured the defender.

However, on a bizarre transfer deadline day, Davies signed for Liverpool, who had injury problems at the back.

Eighteen months later, Ben has been linked to the Scottish champions. The Liverpool Echo reports that Celtic have gone as far as making contact enquiring about the player’s availability. Middlesbrough is also said to be interested.

Liverpool has set an asking price for the defender. The club are looking for £4 million but is expecting this to be made up with potential add-ons, meaning Celtic might be able to get the Englishman for cheaper.

Celtic Still Need a Defender

Heading into next season, it’s clear that Celtic still need a defender. With the club linked to several already, it’s evident that the club share this view.

Cameron Carter-Vickers signing is great, but when it comes to backup for him and Carl Starfelt, there aren’t really any quality players able to step in.

Stephen Wesh just isn’t of the quality Celtic require, and Chris Jullien has an uncertain future, despite the Frenchman keen to contest for a place in Ange’s side next season.
