Despite there being several Celtic youngsters out on-loan there was only one to feature today.

Brody Paterson started his first game for League 2 side, Queens Park, as they took on Patrick Thistle in the Betfred Cup.

Paterson managed just over an hour but couldn’t have an impact on the result as Thistle’s second-half performance, meant they ran away with a 2-0 victory.

Elsewhere, the likes of Jonathan Afolabi and Lee O’Connor would have likely featured for their loan sides, at Dundee and Tranmere Rovers respectively. However, both were away on international duty for Ireland u21s, as they prepare to face Italy on Tuesday.

The most promising of the loan stars so far has been midfielder Scott Robertson. Unfortunately, though, the youngster missed out for the third game in a row, this afternoon through injury. He is expected to make a return soon though, as he steps up his recovery from the short spell out, by starting back training yesterday.

Of course, several of our other loan players did not play today for several different reasons. Whether that be because they are away on Internationals or game have been called off due to the international fixtures.

It is still early days in the season, so I look forward to seeing how these players progress with more first-team minutes under their belts.
