Celtic will be made to play the waiting game in their pursuit of defensive target Ko Itakura.

As reported by Glasgow Live, according to the Sunday Post, the Manchester City defender won’t be considering his future until after this summer Olympic games, which the 24-year old has just helped his side advance to the semi-final stages of.

The Hoops have been linked with a summer loan move for the City defender who has spent the last two seasons at Dutch side FC Groningen.

With the defender’s current involvement with his nations Olympics campaign, though, the club has to play a frustrating waiting game.

The home nation of the competition advanced to the semi-final stage after defeating New Zealand in the quarter-finals on penalties.

Itakura was an extra-time sub in the game and scored a crucial penalty which helped them on their way to face Spain on Tuesday.

Most seasons, we would probably be willing to wait. However, we are in desperate need of central defensive options.

At this point, though, we will likely wait to make our move and give Ange Postecoglou another option at the back, which he so badly needs.
