CELTIC have made an enquiry for Omar Colley it has emerged via Sky Sports.

The 27-year-old currently plays centre-back for Sampdoria but has been in demand this summer.

The Sky Sports report claims the Italian club want a whopping £10m for their defender but Celtic believe they’re open to negotiations.

Celtic have spent some decent money already this summer but if they’re still the market for a defender, you would have to imagine it’s to cover their backs in the case of Kristoffer Ajer leaving.

Colley was brought to Sampdoria from Genk in 2018 for around £7m [TransferMarkt]. His club holds all the cards with the player locked into a deal until 2022.

The bhoys brought in Shane Duffy this week but if Celtic are to play Neil Lennon’s 3-5-2 system, another centre-back is a must if Ajer leaves.

We will see how this pans out but we would imagine Celtic would wait until something concrete came up with regards to outgoing player deals before they spend more cash,
