News broke last night that Celtic could potentially be looking at bringing back Erik Sviatchenko to the club.

The Dane initially left Celtic on a six-month loan deal back in January 2018 – returning to his former club FC Midtjylland. Erik helped them win the league and was re-signed for the club that summer.

Since then, the defender has helped Midtjylland to another title and has had Champions League experience.

At 29, the defender is in his peak years and has a massive soft spot for Celtic who he still follows to this day. Illustrated by the video he sent out the day Celtic won the quadruple treble on penalties.

It was Alison McConnell on RecordSport who broke the story on Tuesday evening.

Today, CeltsArehere.com has been told by an impeccable source that this is more than just paper talk and agents are currently in discussion about the defender’s potential return to Celtic Park – however, it’s in the very early stages.

The social media debate surrounding a return has already started. There are fans in both camps; people who would love to see the defender make a return and others who believe the Dane has had his time at the club.

What this does illustrate is Celtic are now pressing on with signing targets. You can argue the ilk and scope of targets at the moment.
