Celtic have been handed further defensive blows after Kieran Tierney’s news at the weekend. Kolo Toure and Jozo Simunovic have both not traveled with the Celtic squad ahead of Champions League matchday four.

Kolo, who has been preferred for the big Euro nights is struggling with an injury while the official line for Jozo is that he’s still being eased back from his long lay off and would not be available for the game.

This leaves Celtic with half their preferred defence out and it will now be up to Brendan Rodgers to assess his squad and adapt accordingly.

Eoghan O’Connell would be the natural choice to come in, the player put in some top performances for the bhoys at the start of the season when there was an injury crisis.

While the injuries to our main defenders is a negative, Celtic and Eoghan must look to make it a positive. If he plays well in Germany it will only enhance his stock at Celtic Park. Some say he was unlucky to be dropped by Rodgers earlier this season and you have to imagine he’ll be chomping at the bit to start tomorrow night.
