Celtic have had a nightmare trying to arrange opposition for a potential virtual season ticket test event.

We have been following the story closely over the past 48 hours with Dundalk initially pencilled in to come over from Ireland and play the bhoys. RecordSport revealed Dundalk had to pull out of the tie because they feared they would have to go into a two week quarantine upon their return from Scotland.

Celtic then turned to Derry City who confirmed the tie today but now it appears they can’t head out for similar reasons.

This puts Celtic two days out from a potential game which would be beamed as a test for some virtual season ticket holders with no opponents.

The club have a game scheduled with Motherwell for Sunday, no word as of yet if this game will become the default test event.

Celtic had to head to France for a pre-season tour and could only do so because the Scottish government lifted the ban on quarantine for France before they left. Keep an eye out as this story develops, we wouldn’t put it past Celtic to find a club on short notice.
