Celtic has launched an appeal against the red card shown to Hyunjun Yang during their recent clash with Hearts at Tynecastle [Read Here] signalling they’re not taking the contentious decision lying down. The club has also taken the step of formally addressing the Scottish FA (SFA) with a letter, voicing their grave concerns over the VAR decisions in that match.

The statement from the club highlighted, “Celtic Football Club can confirm that it will be appealing the red card issued to Hyunjun Yang during Sunday’s match against Hearts at Tynecastle. We have also written to the SFA to raise our serious concerns regarding the use of VAR and the decisions made within the match.”

Celtic’s proactive stance extends beyond just one game; they’ve been actively engaging with football authorities to advocate for better refereeing standards and the implementation of VAR in Scotland. “As we have said before, for some time Celtic has sought to work with the footballing authorities with the aim of improving standards associated with refereeing and the use of VAR in Scotland, something which is clearly in the wider interests of everyone within the game,” the club stated.

Brendan Rodgers was deeply unhappy with how the game unfolded and with John Beaton’s absurd interjections in the match which helped Celtic on their way to a defeats

The SFA will likely close ranks now and due to the high profile nature of Celtic’s grievance, I’d be astonished if they overturn the red card.

  1. Wouldn’t expect it to be overturned myself either?
Surprised that both of the very costly decisions haven’t been made out, to be of our own making yet?
But still early and expecting someone to change the whole outlook upon the decisions given?
For the penalty, there was no need for scales to be putting a ridiculous header back into the mix, when it looked like the original ball was going nowhere and could have been left to run out of play?
Scales hardly helped himself with another poor header that lead to the 2nd goal, as we still remain a very poor team at trying to win 2nd balls?
As for the Yang red, he was hardly helped by management and coaching staff either?
We knew that Yang had the beating of that Shirley temple lookalike in the winning of the penalty, which he wasn’t booked for surprise surprise?
If Yang had shielded the ball, Shirley would have come through the back of Yang and a certain yellow at least would have had to be given?
Part of the game today and the scum are always at it, as many of the teams we play in CL football are prepared to do?
Small details but can be so influential within a game, so as a team we still need to be getting far smarter in certain situations within a game also imo?
The decisions that were awarded remain as a total disgrace and only highlights just how corrupt Scottish football remains and getting worse?
Course these ridiculous decisions had a massive impact upon the game and overall result?
Even so are response to them was very disappointing also, and still haven’t a clue what Rodgers was expecting from the team with the changes he made either?

  2. Johno your talking complete and utter rubbish, making excuses for incompetent and inconsistent refereeing decisions. Beaton the guy who didn’t give a penalty to Celtic at Ibrox when Goldson made a two handed save from a goalbound shot by Starfelt, the same referee ignored two sending off offences by Morelos in an old firm game when he tried to pull Christie’s Bxlls off and stamped on Ralston’s back while he was on the ground.
To blame Scales for Beatons clearly biased interventions is a strange thing for a Celtic supporter to do.
This article is all about Celtic appealing the red card decision and criticising the refereeing performance both on field and especially in the VAR room.
The strengths and weaknesses of the Celtic team should be part of another discussion.
