CELTIC’s Japanese following is growing by the day thanks to the efforts of all the former J-League bhoys in the green and white hoops.

Kyogo’s introduction to Celtic in the summer set the ball rolling for the club who realised quickly they’re was a demand for Celtic content back in his home country.

The club set the dedicated Japanese social media page up in the summer and have since opened up merchandise streams to the country.

This weekend, as Celtic hit St Johnstone for seven at Celtic Park – the Japanese social media account hit 50k! Another milestone for the page.

Interest would have been there at the weekend with both Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda getting on the scoresheet in Celtic’s emphatic win.

The return of Kyogo would have also put eyes on the club from Japan once again and as we head towards the end of the season the follower base is only growing.

It’s vital for a club like Celtic operating in the SPFLto find as many revenue sources as they can. Having top class players who can open you to new, larger markets is a fantastic think both on and off the pitch.

We once had a Japanese dedicated website back in the 00s when Nakamura was at the club but we didn’t really capitalise on it.

Celtic have a small and dedicated team in Japan putting out the content and hopefully it will bring more eyeballs to the club as it continues.

It’s got a long way to go to catch up with the official Celtic account but it’s not to be sniffed at.
