Celtic scored a major own goal on Friday with the supporters who feel they haven’t been listened to and have been disregarded after making a heavy investment in the club this season.

The ongoing aggro between a large part of the support and the board shows no signs of dissipating. Instead of cooling things down, Celtic added fuel to the fire on Friday while doing two things simultaneously.

While they were erecting more steel fencing around the ground after last Sunday’s protests they were also emailing every Celtic fan on their mailing list about buying Celtic merchandise.

It was a huge own goal. If departments weren’t talking to each other, they really should have.

That’s right folks, roll up and buy a Christmas jumper but if you want your picture next to the Jock Stein, Brother Walfrid or Jimmy Johnstone statue, tough! – you’re not allowed in.

It was a huge error of judgement and also speaks to the wider picture they feel they need to do this after the decisions the board have taken themselves.

Some protestors took it too far, but they weren’t indicative of the majority of fans at the ground on Sunday, nor the supporters sitting in their homes absolutely fuming the season is panning out the way it is.

Don’t build a fence to keep us out while trying to gauge us for money.

  1. It is not a fence to keep anyone out. It’s a see through virus barrier, to keep wild fans who may infect others with a bit of common sense from a Celtic revolution. That anyone beyond it to see the reality of what Celtic means to us small. potatoes. Just stick that (condensed) painted in a large type face on a plastic blanket on that Fuc&ing fence. And make sure it is pointed inwards.
