In one of the more bizarre stories you’ll read today, it appears former Celtic player and Radio Pundit Jim Duffy has claimed Celtic should sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool once his Ibrox loan deal ends in May.

The Liverpool youngster was brought to Glasgow by Steven Gerrard and has done OK but hasn’t been able to help the Ibrox club make up any real ground on Celtic.

Kent played well in the Glasgow Derby in December but over and above that the player has been average. There’s no chance the Ibrox club will sign the player this summer with Liverpool putting a hefty price tag on Kent but Duffy thinks he would be a great investment for Celtic.

“Celtic paid £9m for Edouard who’s a player with potential and certainly wasn’t the finished article.” Duffy explained on Superscoreboard.

“I think Ryan Kent is certainly not the finished article and he’s got a lot to learn.

“His final ball, he’s got to create and assist more, he’s got to score more goals.

“There’s times when he goes past people but there has to be more of an end product.

“I’m not sure he’s ready to come up and play for that kind of money.

“If it was somewhere around the £7m mark then it might be an investment for Celtic.”

It’s a remarkable statement to make when you consider Celtic would need to shell out the second largest transfer amount in their history to land the player.

Sometimes you just have to fill air time with whatever pops into your mind on a two hour show. Not the best from Jim Duffy on this occasion.
