You may have thought it was too late in the day for someone to be called into the national side before Sunday nights game against San Marino but it appears as if Lewis Morgan has had his Sunday ruined by Steve Clarke.

With Robert Snodgrass dropping out the side let in the day – instead of just leaving the squad who have trained together for a week as they are, the Scotland boss has decided to call up Lewis for the game at Hampden in very short notice.

This means the player will be in contention to play this evening unless we’re missing something. Surely they wouldn’t just call him up to sit him on the bench…would they?

Lewis has found the going tough this season trying to make the breakthrough into Celtic’s starting XI – the winger has not done much to suggest he will be a regular figure in Neil Lennon’s side.

If he can get into the park tonight and get among the goals it might do his confidence the world of good.
