NEIL LENNON has today confirmed the extent of Jozo Simunovic’s recovery time after the player went in for surgery last week. The Croatian has missed several games after a recurring knee injury sidelined the defender.

However, it was unclear how long he would miss after the surgery with Neil Lennon delivering the bad news he won’t be seen until after Christmas.

“We’re probably looking at three to four months,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon told. CelticTV.

“It was a clean-up.

“He knows what he has to do for his rehab and we’re discussing if he can maybe go away for a few weeks and do some rehab at home.

“He’s doing well. It was a blow for us and a blow for the player but he felt it was a necessity. Thankfully it’s not a micro-fracture again, which is a serious operation that would put him out for six to eight months.

“He’s had a clean-up and obviously we have to tread carefully with his rehab.

“But the sooner we get him back, the better.”

Celtic recruited very well on the defensive front this summer. There was a time when Jozo going out injured could have thrown us into a mini injury crisis.

Now with Christopher Jullien, Ajer and Hatem who can all play that position well the club can rest knowing there’s options. Even former Manchester Utd man Lee O’Connor can come in and play in that position.

Jozo has had a nightmare with injuries and hasn’t gone a full season without spending some time out on the sidelines. We wish him all the best with his rehab and hope to see him back in the New Year.
