PETER LAWWELL has finally poked his head above the parapet and addressed the Celtic fans directly via the Celtic website.

After weeks of discontent and whispers to their pals in the media, we finally got a response from the Celtic CEO who has been under increasing pressure to speak out.

The scenes at the end of the game on Sunday came from a real place of despair for many who took the trip to Celtic Park, most with good intentions and some who took it too far.

The club can’t ignore the feeling of hopelessness the fans are feeling at this point in time. Lawwell coming out now as Celtic fans talk about ways to get their voices heard online by starving the club of cash in the future has perhaps prompted the direct intervention by our CEO.

While the Club has faced a difficult period on the pitch, Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has reiterated the Club’s determination to succeed this season and move forward together.

Peter Lawwell said: “Like all those with Celtic’s best interests at heart, everyone at the Club is feeling the same hurt, disappointment and frustration following the team’s recent results. We are accustomed to winning and, of course, our objective will always be for that to continue. There is no complacency whatsoever.

“Neil, the players and backroom staff, who have already done so much for the Club, share in all of that. They have never been more determined to succeed. Having enjoyed such sustained, unprecedented success, we now need strength in adversity.

“We know that many Celtic supporters share very honest and real concerns and they are being heard by the Club. Every decision taken, both on and off the park, is with the Club’s best interests at heart. This is not about any individual, but about Celtic Football Club as a collective.

“Together we have faced unique difficulties in the early part of the season. While some of these were beyond our control, of course we recognise we must improve. There is a long way to go and everyone at the Club is ready for the challenge.

“Later this month, Celtic will attempt what no other club in the world has achieved – a quadruple treble in domestic competitions. We can best prepare for that and for our other remaining competitions this season by moving forward together, with the sole aim of achieving continued success for the Club.”

There has been a lot of mud slung at ordinary fans in the media, branding supporters entitled after dominating for years and being portrayed as brats when things haven’t gone our way.

In reality, the run Celtic have been on has seen other managers sacked for less. Every Celtic fans is appreciative of the club’s success over the years and we’ve revelled in every minute. However, the past glories shouldn’t dictate that we sleepwalk into mediocrity.

We should always try and be the very best we can be and right now, the fans know the club are failing in that regard.

  1. If supporters claim the refunds they are entitled on season tickets and others cancel and do not buy merchandise, then they board will soon start to take notice of the support.

  2. If that doesn’t tell you nothing is going to happen, I don’t know what will. The 10 was a dream, it will now never become a reality. I’ve followed the club since 1962. No more, no more being taken for a mug. Fuck you mister Lawell, when we had a truly professional manager in Brendan Rodgers, you couldn’t stand being subservient to him and so made his departure inevitable. Fuck you, a thousand times fuck you Lawell.
