CELTIC has been making changes behind the scenes and recruiting a plethora of talent to help the club gain any sort of edge they can whether it be sports science or data.

The club is now looking at bringing in a data analyst for the B team, showing their commitment to the B team project. Complying data on the team, its players and they’re progress will be massive in their development going forward.

The first team already have analytics in now, having brought in staff during last season. This is used for the match day squad as well as recruitment.

The B team’s adventure in the Scottish Lowland league last season has certainly helped the youth players. Competitive games are a must in order for players to develop. Before the agreement with the lower league, Celtic were spinning their wheels after pulling out of the Reserve League which was underfunded and not fit for purpose.

Hopefully we start to reap the rewards of the B team’s inclusion into the league and Celtic can take it a step further when they appoint a data analyst. While it’s a B team role, it will inevitably filter through to the first team.
