The Bhoys are back from a successful European trip where they scored 14 goals in three games. Blackburn Rovers are the opponents today.

Match sharpness and fitness is obviously top priority at this stage of the game but beating any English team is always a good thing considering how the Scottish game is viewed down the south.

Today’s game didn’t get off to a great start as the visitors found themselves one up after just 20 seconds. The Championship side is under new management and the Rovers players looked keen on making an impression early doors.

Celtic got a handle on the game after five minutes. They got their high press going and forced Blackburn into a lot of mistakes. Jota hit his magic button and he starts running rings around anyone wearing a Rovers jersey.

On the other side of the pitch, Juranovic and Abada start linking up to get lethal crosses into the box and Kyogo nearly got on the end of one or two of them.

At the fifteen-minute mark, the Bhoys level things up from a corner. The ball fell to Jota who was loitering on the edge of the box and he smashed it in off the post. There were serious concerns that the superstar from Portugal had injured himself after scoring but luckily after a bit of treatment, the winger was ok to continue.

After a frantic opening twenty minutes, the game settled a bit with the Celts dominating possession.

Twenty-five minutes in, Matt O’Rilley gets fouled on the edge of the box and Turnbull’s shot is deflected past a hapless Blackburn keeper, 2-1 to the Celtic.

Celtic went into cruise control after that goal and saw the half out with ease.
