David Turnbull is back in action for his club after a long recovery from a knew-op.

In the summer, a deal was agreed between the Steelmen and Celtic for the transfer of David to the Celtic. This was after flip-flopping by Turnbull and his agent before David admitted he saw his future at Celtic. The deal was almost done and he had already been pictured in a Celtic top in the Parkhead board room when the deal shortly after fell apart.

A medical flagged up a serious knee issue David and Motherwell were unaware of. Celtic tried to land the midfielder on loan after that but there was no deal to be done as far as Motherwell were concerned.

It’s been 8 long months since David went under the knife, weeks after his big money move collapsed but he made his first appearance of the season against St Mirren on Tuesday.

SunSport reported back in October Celtic were keeping an eye on the player’s recovery and now he has made it back onto the field, the club may be checking to see if he returns to the form which won him the move the first time around.

They wrote: ‘Motherwell starlet Turnbull on course for January return with Celtic still interested

‘The Motherwell midfielder was heartbroken when a £3.25 million move to Celtic collapsed in June.’

Celtoc have signed Ismaila Soro since then. However, if Neil Lennon was that keen to bring Turnbull in – if he can prove his fitness and form, you wouldn’t bet against it happening.
