Celtic striker Johnny Kenny, who signed for the club from Sligo Rovers two years ago, is set for another return to his homeland on loan.
Kenny spent 2023 with Shamrock Rovers where he made 37 appearances across the Irish top flight, cups, and Champions League and Europa Conference League qualifying. In those games, he scored six goals and assisted four.
His contributions helped Rovers win their fourth Irish title in a row with his performances winning the club’s Young Player of the Year award.
Now going into 2024, Kenny is nearing a return to Tallaght with Shamrock Rovers close to an agreement with Celtic for another loan for the frontman (Irish Independent). It is said that clubs from across the UK were interested in a deal, but the Hoops were happy for Kenny to return to his homeland.
The 20-year-old’s new loan will last at least until the summer, but potentially for the whole of the 2024 season. He is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for The Bhoys and with this potential deal, said run will likely go on.
