CELTIC TARGET Danny Simpson is keeping his options open after being linked with a trial at Celtic next week.

The English defender is out of contract after Brendan Rodgers and Leciester let him go at the end of last season. The player is now searching for a new club and is very much keeping his options open with regards to where he will end up.

The right-back did mention the idea of staying in the Premier League to come up against his old side Leicester BUT he is not ruling out a move ‘abroad’ to another league.

“I’d love to go back to the King Power to play against the lads.” He told MailSport.

“But at the same time I wouldn’t rule out anything abroad, in terms of a new experience.”

Celtic’s right back problem is well documented and it’s a position they really need to fill before the end of this window.

Whether Simpson is the answer remains to be seen. Neil Lennon and summer scout Nicky Hammond need to pull a rabbit out the hat in the coming weeks.
