There has been a rumour going about Celtic are interested in bringing Peterborough star Ivan Tonev to Celtic Park over the summer.

Posh chairman Barry Fry has claimed both sides of Glasgow were interested in his player.

However, this has been debunked in the Glasgow Times who claim neither club in Glasgow have made any contact about wanting to try and sign the player.

Often we see this in the papers during the transfer window. Agents offer out players to clubs and if both Celtic and their Glasgow counterparts have been offered a player by an agent it then gets through to the press.

That’s as far as it goes unless the club have a real appetite to sign the player.

The 24-year-old has scored 24 goals in 32 League One appearances for his club and is attracting interest because of that. The former Newcastle youth product linked up permanently with his club in 2018.

Celtic don’t appear to be in the market for a striker right now with four currently on their first team books.
