Celtic Women hosted Hearts on Wednesday evening in the SWPL. Although it didn’t look likely at certain points, Fran Alonso’s side pulled through and got the victory.
At the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie, Hearts went in front by two goals to nil six minutes in. The Ghirls remained unfazed, though, and Caitlin Hayes halved the deficit on the ninth minute.
Soon after, Paula Partido netter her maiden goal in green and white to draw the Hoops level. At half-time, the score was two-all but just five minutes into the second 45, Shen Menglu put the Celts ahead for the first time.
From then on in, the Ghirls did well to hold onto their lead. They eventually came away 3-2 victors, maintaining their 100% start to the SWPL season.
With six wins out of six so far, Celtic sit second in the table, one point behind Rangers, but with a game in hand on the Gers and eleven goals better off on goal difference than them. Alonso will be eager to keep the perfect start to the league campaign going this Sunday when he takes his side to the North East to take on Aberdeen
