Celtic Women hosted The Spartans in their final home game of 2023 this afternoon. Returning from an international break, the Ghirls wiped off the cobwebs and came away thorough 7-0 victors.

It did take a while for the Celts to get the scoring going but once they did, the floodgates soon opened. Caitlin Hayes made it 1-0 early in the second half before Amy Gallacher made it two ten minutes later.

Jenny Smith got the third in the 66th minute before Clare Goldie made it four. The fifth came courtesy of Celya Barclais with Hayes getting her second of the afternoon with ten to go. Murphy Agnew then completed the scoring in the dying embers.

Pre-match, there were some doubts over the future of Fran Alonso however it in no way impacted the performance. Celtic Women were excellent, and have now netted thirty goals without reply in their last five matches.

This is the form they will be aiming to carry on into next weekend’s match against Hearts as Alonso aims to keep hot on the trail of league leaders Rangers.
