Christopher Jullien wasnt the only Celtic player to make a long-awaited return from injury on Sunday, with young winger Karamoko Dembele also getting his first taste of action with the Celtic B side after a layoff through injury.

The 18-year old has been missing from action ever since picking up a knock during pre-season in a friendly against Bristol City.

It will have come as a huge frustration to Dembele to be on the end of such a poor challenge, particularly in a friendly game, which would mostly be seen as a chance for players to up their fitness levels.

Like Jullien, though, the youngster made his return from injury. Although, it didn’t come with Ange Postecoglou’s first-team squad.

Dembele featured for 90 minutes as part of Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B side, alongside the likes of Tobi Oluwayemi, Dane Murray and Joey Dawson, who have also had ventures in the first team this season, in a 4-0 win over Vale of Leithen in the Lowland League.

It is great to see that the Lennoxtown academy graduate was able to get back on the pitch, and despite not getting on the scoresheet, the 90 minutes will do Dembele the world of good after such a long layoff.

The youngster will be hoping to build up his fitness and be given a chance to impress Postecoglou before the end of the season. The England youth internationalist also has a decision to make regarding his contract at Parkhead, which comes to an end in the summer.
