We were certain on Monday morning the Adidas push of Celtic third kit for next season was an oversight by the manufacturer – and we’re certain it has been the case now.

The new Celtic top was available to buy on the Adidas site on Monday and was up for around 12 hours before taken down.

It was a rather peculiar way to drop a new Celtic jersey for a number of reasons:

– Usually the home shirt takes precedence before the others follow.

– Celtic always get the opportunity to hype up every kit release with their own media drive and pre-orders.

Celtic Adidas

– The kit was dropped on the site cold, with absolutely no bells and whistles.

– Celtic have historically benefitted more from direct sales from their own platform. Adidas exclusively putting out the first round of sales could have an affect on the superstore’s bottom line.

We’d caveat the last point by making it clear we’re not privy to the inner workings of the deal between Celtic and Adidas.

We had been waiting on the next ‘leak’ to fall onto social media for either the Celtic away shirt or the third kit, but we certainly didn’t expect it to be front and centre on the Adidas website.

Before the jersey was pulled, three sizes of the Celtic shirt had already sold out. We put in our order and it was accepted, we’re now awaiting to see if it will be shipped.
